PENTHOUSE OVERHAUL!
This project was by far, one of the most dramatic “BEFORE AND AFTER” transformations EVER! To make it even more fun, our wonderful clients and the team just clicked from our first meeting.
Located on “at the top” wth a stellar view, the penthouse “bones” were good but it was very DARK AND CLUTTERED…with the current residents items and their overload of “STUFF!!…”
Now this was a very expensive type of clutter, but nonetheless..
“Whiter lighter floors would really open the space up” I told our clients.. and they said “YES!”
Once the Penthouse was emptied, we really got a chance to feel and assess the space.
Our clients were looking for a transitional style – but did want to add some traditional pieces.
We had to address the flooring and the horrid ,very imposing very red, built-in wall in the Living Room. We toyed with the idea of painting it, ripping it out completely?.. and in the end decided it just needed to be stained darker with a minor redesign to remove some of the busy details – like all the lions heads and the ornate mantle!
Now that we opened Pandora’s box of remodeling!.. the elevator vestibule also needed to be addressed. We started with the selection of a new floor. 4 selections later!! and many international emails later as our clients were out of the country.. We finally settled on this one! Next we added a little mirror and again, we are obsessed with ALL the lighting!! We had the ceiling gold leafed and we wallpapered the elevator doors. The Christopher Guy chair is nice and low and is there for taking off shoes – the hidden shoe shelves are in the closet.. We love those layers of luxury!
THIS is the “BEFORE!!!”
AFTER!
Getting lighting to the middle of the living room was a priority, Notice how we lined up the new elevator vestibule lighting with the entry and the living room. We love how it all looks in the same line of sight once you step off the elevator! The Living room light is made of real onyx and LED lights. Elegant and simple.
The Dining Room chandelier caused our client to GASP at the presentation in such a guttural way, we didn’t know if it was a positive or a negative response! Once he said “Yes”, we all had a good laugh!
It took longer than the entire project to get here… but we think it was well worth the wait! IF an item is backordered for too long, we always give our clients the option to reselect, but this time, there just wasn’t a replacement that could excite us all as much as this one!
It took ALL DAY to hang – because all those are real crystal globes and the fixture weights 750 pounds! Boy, were we glad to finally see it up!
Our clients really wanted a banquette for their everyday dining. The fabric we selected is so gorgeous, we fell in love at first sight. A few vintage looking nail heads make it even more special. Can you see the wallpaper on the ceiling? The nook light is also a showstopper!
From day one, we all decided we hated the red kitchen cabinets. However, we absolutely LOVED the countertops. Can we possibly save them? Yes! We solved the kitchen problem by refacing the cabinets in a matte black finish. Now it looks updated and fresh. We also added the cabinet paneling to the front of the long counter that faces the dining area to make it more beautiful and polished.
Can you believe the “before?”
AFTER!
Our clients had the fun idea of making the refrigerator panels more interesting by custom painting them, so we enrolled local artist Jennifer McCarty to help us out!
Swivel chairs were placed in the living room bay window area to enjoy the amazing views.
Our large sectional was found by our clients and myself in North Carolina at the large furniture show we attend every year. But it was actually made in Ecuador! They love how everyone can be comfortable on it as they entertain quite often!
One of my favorite things about this home is how different it looks from day to night.. The views are breathtaking no matter what time of day…
We always look for ways to add separate seating areas, giving the room multiple functions and always party ready!
Lighting is always a top priority in our projects and we carefully procured each one for maximum impact AND beauty.
This was a first! Our clients TAP DANCE! On the other side of the room is a pull out bed so the room doubles as a guest room.
Local artist Fernando Reyes was enrolled to create this fun ceiling mural in the bath attached to the tap/guest room.
Master Bedrooms are one of my favorite areas to decorate as clients usually want to go “all in” with the impact and fun design. This bed!!
No need to say more!
We were so excited to “hand this off” to the owners knowing we improved the quality of their lives! We strongly believe that when you feel comfortable and settled in your own home, it translates to everything else in your life!
