Our Save the Ta-Tas Quest: Meet Wendy Mirabella

Positive, human, and strong are words that come to mind when I think of Wendy Mirabella.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month was in October, but more than just a one-month-a-year concern, this is something that is always close to my heart, as I have two daughters and all my beloved coworkers are women. We’re surrounded by the threat all the time, and so it can be all too easy to forget about it.

As we started out with our breast cancer awareness campaign, there was a lot of support, but there was one challenging comment that really resonated with Jill and me: a questioning of how effective all the information out there really is in building awareness and helping the funds make it to the needing people.

Our Save the Ta-Tas event in October raised $1,000, and we put in $500 of our own to help out even more.

So much of Wendy’s money had to go toward her fight for survival in the face of breast cancer, and she needed support. Rent and car insurance payments were due and she didn’t have enough money to pay the bills.

Our goal was to give all proceeds to someone who the money could really help, and that was Wendy, hands down. As Wendy put it, our timing was perfect, as we helped her pay off her bills just as there seemed no way to pay them.

I think that we accomplished what we set out to do, but as with many of life’s journeys, we started with a simple goal without a clear endgame. Wendy’s strength, positive attitude, and openness to share with us were proof that we are heading in the best direction possible, and that helped us help her.

We are looking forward to seeing our new friend become a healthy, vibrant young woman again who doesn’t have to spend time at the doctors instead of her family, who doesn’t have to get treatment instead of working to maintain the quality of life we all deserve.

We will continue to share her story. Please feel free to support her in any way you can. Please contact us today if you are interested.
