MAGIC ON MAIN
TODAY!!!!! IS OUR 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR CLOSING ON OUR BUILDING HERE ON MAIN STREET!!!!!! Here is how it all came about!..
When we opened Insidestyle in 2004, we rented various office/warehouse spaces on Valley View. We ALWAYS wanted to own our own building – but weren’t sure how that was EVER going to happen.
In the summer of 2010, Marc had a “wild hair” to cruise downtown and look at real estate. I said “NO!.. I just want to stay home in my pajamas and relax today ..” Marc said, You don’t even have to get out of the car – Just go with me… “ We looked at our space for the first time and met with the owner After touring inside, we realized it was PERFECT for us even in it’s rough state.. and We started talking with the intent to purchase it, but the cost was too much for what we thought it was worth and they were rushing us…so at the last minute we pulled the plug and were very very sad! And, we signed our lease for another year.
One year later, we started working wth a realtor and after looking at a building on Industrial, and Marc asked if we could drive by the property that we had looked at last year.
Whaaaat?.. It Still had a for sale sign on the building?! I can still remember our excitement. We called right away and it was true, it was still available!!! We were even more excited and we can remember thinking , “We will sell everything/do anything to acquire this property!!… We have to get this!!…” We started the process on June 15, 2011 and closed June 29, 2011 for what we felt was a fair price … and Life has never been the same since….
When we first moved in, our girls were LITTLE! they were happy playing in a BOX! Now they are in college!
Pure “Magic on Main”.
So, since we are such romantics, we thought it would be fun to take a trip down Memory Lane
When we got our Certificate of Occupancy, we had 2 months to rehab and and move in by Sept. 1st move in date. The interiors and exteriors were ROUGH.. but that didn’t deter us. We started the renovations immediately – but it was stressful having to get them done very quick so we could keep working ..
Ewwww! Can you believe this was our current from office?!!!! yuck ..It’s feeling much better these days..
Our building has a cool history! It was built in 1947 Check out this photo below!
It started off as Las Vegas Electric Company! (who are still in business here! ) It was also a Church for Gays and Lesbians in the 50’s AND later, a storage facility for some epic Las Vegas Special event planners!
The warehouse made our hearts pitter patter! Oh the fun we can have here… and we can store alot of furniture!!
We had our grand opening on November 10, 2011 and it was a great way to start off our journey AND celebrate Jill’s birthday.
We couldn’t wait to give it a facelift!
We have had SOOOO many great times here and more importantly, we have a like minded community of creative friends that we have come to know and love! DTLV truly is a special place and now it seems everyone else is just finding this out!
IF you haven’t already figured it out… we are always having fun here.
But we also get a ton of good work done!!!!!
We feel so fortunate, to have been able to run own business and work with the most amazing clients! Working to transform a personal home is so rewarding and we never get tired of the creation process!
A plethora of new businesses have made their way to our “hood” in the last few years and we couldn’t be more excited to have such diverse exciting neighbors!
You may recognize some of them… Vesta, Makers and Finders, Casa Don Juan, Buffalo Exchange, Epic, Gurrrll, Alley Fitness, Art Square, Esther’s Kitchen, YU or Mi Sushi and many More!
Thank you to all of you who have supported us, cheered us on and made our lives great by showing up for us! We are truly grateful!
Here is to the next TEN! Cheers!!!
