How to Use Mirrors for Stunning Interior Art
Whether you’re someone who’s always trying to avoid your reflection or can’t keep from checking yourself out when you walk by it, everybody “uses” mirrors – probably daily! But one of my favorite things to do with them isn’t just helping keep my hair in place… it’s amping up wall art.
How to Know a Space Is a Fit for Mirror Art
Mirrors are a favorite go-to when I want to “open up the space” visually or to give the eye a break from art everywhere. They also magnify the light in a dimly lit room or give the illusion that the room is bigger than it really is. With the vast variety of mirrors available, they can really be the crowning jewel in a room, setting the stage for a mood with all of the wonderful textures, sizes, and shapes. I have also stacked multiple mirrors as a way to create a big wow factor.
Setting the Stage
IF a mirror is over a console or chest, I like to place it 4 – 6” over the piece of furniture. If it is a standalone, make sure you don’t have to stand on your tippy toes to see it! One of my pet peeves is art or mirrors that are placed too high or too low to be useful.
Make It Your Own – Or Someone Else’s!
Have a little fun with your mirrors! The climbing men are such a cute addition to this area and you can never go wrong with fresh flowers. When you add anything in front of a mirror it has “twice” the impact, so I say GO BIG or GO HOME!
