My career started with a passing comment when I was 24.
A visitor to my new apartment exclaimed with delight over the colorful pieces, vibrant art, and the rare Art Deco Bar I had found and restored. Overstuffed fluffy white sofas with multi-colored handpainted pillows and my rented black lacquer piano which was really more “for looks” as I never really learned to play more than a few songs lol, but I justified, it’s good to have goals! The super chic sofas had been put on “layaway” until I could afford them … I can still remember the excitement of delivery day after the 6 month payment period! The comment was, ”Have you ever thought of going into interior design?! If you’re interested, I know someone who manages a design school.” As funny as it sounds now, that hadn’t even been on my radar! If you can imagine, HGTV wasn’t even a thing yet! and I had never considered design as a design path.
However, within hours of visiting the design school, I was completely intrigued and over the moon about finding a career path I could really sink my teeth into. After finishing school, I was willing to do anything to make this career path come true and the journey included.. – Working for a furniture importer – Traveling to Indonesia was a highlight to pick pieces for the line.
– Designing model homes for companies in LA, Orange County, and San Diego.
– I worked in sales and design for the model home companies, learning all about both sides of the business I was wholeheartedly pursuing.
– Working in a furniture store while juggling 2 other jobs to make rent.. – And later, when I became more financially stable, I opened a boutique furniture and accessories store on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach while also designing for clients.
I’ll skip the tragic but valuable business lessons I learned in Laguna Beach and share that moving to San Diego was a big scary change I decided to make when my store was purchased by another entity and I was forced out..
But I believe that the Universe always has a plan for you if you have good intentions and follow your heart.
Lo and behold, San Diego was not only a great stepping stone for my career, but more importantly, I quickly met Marc – my husband of 25 years and the love of my life.
We had already talked about marriage when 2 years later, I was recruited to Las Vegas to work for a National Homebuilder. The offer was too good to pass up! So after one year of long-distance dating, Marc agreed to reluctantly leave his beloved beach lifestyle to move to the Desert and we were married. It took some time for him to recalibrate, but now he can’t see living anywhere else! Life is funny like that.
We dreamt of the day when we would have a couple of kids, perhaps open a business, and live life on our own terms, instead of asking for vacation days as you do in Corporate America.
We made it happen in 2004 with creative financing and determination and crafted our Mission Statement of “Creating extraordinary experiences while enriching people’s lives through design.”
We moved downtown to the Arts District in 2011 after we purchased our building. It was a bit “rough” down here at that time, but Marc’s vision was clear and he was positive that the area would “catch up” to his vision. (It did!) It’s still Home for us and we are grateful and continually inspired by the wonderful community of artistic people we have met downtown while doing what we love.
Today, we find ourselves working in homes I only dreamt about back when I started this journey. We typically work for clients who have several rooms or an entire home to furnish or remodel and I still LOVE the process and discoveries we make each time. I love to impart the knowledge and share the resources that have taken over 30 years of steady work to establish for the best results with the least stress to our wonderful clientele!
Our focus is solely on Residential design. Nothing makes me happier than making our clients comfortable and ecstatic in their homes – the most sacred place on earth, in my opinion.
I have been fortunate to design some amazing homes but the main focus is enjoying the time spent with our clients.
Our main criteria is working with someone we can not only create with but also share an occasional belly laugh! The process is always born out of the joyful collaborations between us and our clients to create a home that is truly restorative, beautiful, and unique.
This year is our 20th year in business and we are still enjoying every moment!
I run the business of InsideStyle. If you have heard of the ” left brain /right brain” analogy, I am more suited to the analytical and methodical tasks as opposed to Jill who is the creative leader and now free to focus solely on Design. This has been a winning formula for us since we opened the business in 2004. The idea is to provide Jill and the team with more time for our clients and design and not on the day-to-day tasks of running a business. I also curate connectivity and community outreach and have worked tirelessly to put the Arts District “on the map” so to speak. Las Vegas has so much talent in the arts and it is one of my great passions, promoting our local artists and raising awareness of all the talented artists who live and work right here in Vegas!
As any business that intends to sustain itself, I feel it must give back to the community and should be involved. Company culture is also at the forefront of my mind and one of my goals has always been to create a team that can move the business forward, in not only in the most efficient manner but also the most enjoyable way. I have been the curator and director of some incredible “field trips” as we call them and educational adventures. Sometimes, it is as simple as visiting local galleries and hearing artists explain their process and other times, we have made trips to New York and Paris in the never-ending search for greatness in design and culture. Travel continues to be our biggest inspiration and we make space for it several times during the year to keep our approach and our offerings fresh, relevant, and bespoke. Quality of life is at the core of everything for the InsideStyle family. We often refer to our life and company culture as “living in the bubble” and that bubble is full of joy, laughter, creation, inclusivity, and love. What else matters?
Hailee is our extraordinary Project Manager and Designer in training.
When Hailee was introduced to us, we were in the middle of a big company transition, as our former project manager of 8 years was pregnant and going to stay home afterward with her baby.
We polled our close friends to see if they had any leads to fill this key position. We have known Hailee’s family for YEARS.. as our daughters went to school together and when we asked our friend and her Mom Eileen about prospects for us, she said, “How about my daughter Hailee?!”
Funny enough, we had never met THAT daughter!.. Hailee is the oldest of 5 siblings! Within minutes, Hailee called us, and about 10 minutes into the call, we knew immediately that she was “the one!”
With a Can-do attitude, she quickly cracked the code of keeping track of managing multiple projects and keeping ALL the details in our design process straight. And there are a ton of details! As an added bonus, she has a wonderful design aesthetic which makes her a perfect fit for us and this profession.
Similar to Jill’s start, Hailee wasn’t working in the design field until she came to work for us. She was a mortgage broker! But spent all her spare time creating beautiful things and had a passion for making her home and others gorgeous.
Her keen organizational abilities have taken Insidestyle to a new level and she often designs side by side with Jill.
We appreciate her on so many levels. Her tireless work ethic, playfulness, and strength make her a perfect fit. Did I mention we love to have fun?!
When you call our office, she typically answers the phone, so make sure and say Hello!
We all look forward to meeting you!
Hailee’s comments:
InsideStyle is the perfect atmosphere to feed and nurture my soul and expand my creative abilities. Working in such a creative space with other like-minded creatives allows my everyday job to never feel like “work” and for that, I feel incredibly lucky!

I am thrilled to get the opportunity to recommend Inside Style. This was not our first remodel project, nor was it the first time that we sought out the assistance of an interior designer to help us. This was, however, the first time that our remodel was in a high rise which brought its own set of challenges. Jill listened when we told her that we really wanted to open up the space and helped us find every opportunity to achieve this goal, but being in a high rise limits your ability to move electrical and plumbing. Every time that we thought we hit a roadblock, Jill was there to help us work through a viable and creative solution.
Because this project was in Las Vegas, we really wanted a contemporary look. We have always had traditional decor, so we were treading on foreign territory. Jill recognized that and really helped us see how it was all going to come together. She presented fabrics and colors and patiently waited for us to “digest” them and get comfortable with them. She listened to our comments and made changes to things that she didn’t think we would be happy with, sometimes before we had the opportunity to ask her to change them.
We could not be more thrilled with the final outcome. I feel that one of the most important things to consider choosing an interior designer is finding someone you are comfortable talking with and who REALLY listens to what you are saying. It is equally important to find someone who understands and appreciates the fact that at the end of the project, you are the one who will be living in the space. They can’t get their feelings hurt when you express a dislike about something that they present. Instead, they should gladly go back and continue looking for the right solution. We absolutely had this experience with Inside Style. We would absolutely use Jill again and have recommended her to our friends.

We recently purchased a 3-level 5,000-square-foot penthouse in Las Vegas.
This space started out with plain white walls and no details of note throughout. Selecting the right interior designer was crucial. Fortunately, we met and hired Jill Abelman of Inside Style.
It was a complete project from top to bottom. We raised the floor level in the main living space to better enjoy the views of the strip, a 25’ long custom built-in bar area was designed and many unexpected touches gave it the luxurious “nightclub” feel we desired. The interiors are quite dramatic yet still warm and conducive to our large family gatherings.
This project was done entirely long distance. Shortly after Jill’s design presentation, we left the country for an extended trip. All of the selections and decisions were handled quite efficiently thru email, UPS, and a few phone calls. Jill was always very prompt in returning our correspondence and kept us in the loop on all progress.
Our project was completed on budget and within our quick timeline (We began in September – completion was due before Christmas.) She didn’t leave out one detail – down to the fully decorated Christmas tree in the living room and the mistletoe!
I would highly recommend Jill and her staff to anyone that wants a truly professional design firm and spectacular results.

Jill at Inside Style Home and Design did an outstanding job helping us put together our dream home. We’d seen every program on HGTV and read countless magazines on color palettes but we finally knew we needed a professional to coach us through the process. It was the best decision we ever made. We repainted the house, carpeted the bedrooms, put in a glass and metal backsplash in the kitchen, and re-tiled the bathrooms. Jill’s suggestions were perfect, and she helped us coordinate with the contractor to make sure everything went smoothly.
We would definitely recommend Inside Style to anyone!

Jill did a phenomenal job turning our run-of-the-mill condominium into a warm, inviting vacation home. We gave her a few pictures to show her the style we had in mind, then she did everything else — down to buying the appropriate china and silverware! We live out of state and we were able to take care of almost everything via phone and e-mail. Highly recommended!
